Bulk Object Updater Project Task & EA data permissions

SP-58389, SP-59245

Control access to project task and Extended Attribute (EA) data in Bulk Object Updater (BOU) for non-admin users using role-based permissions.

The new Project Task & EA data [Restricted permissions] option appears in the Bulk Object Updater – BOU section of the Global Role Permissions.

PNG image will display here

Global Permissions page

This changes the way each user accesses and updates project task and EA data in BOU:

  • Project Task & EA data [Full permissions]: Access project task & EA data in BOU without selecting a form first and perform any operations allowed by your overall access to BOU.

  • Project Task & EA data [Restricted permissions]: Requires users to select a form before selecting extended attributes in the Project Task & EA data view of BOU. This permission also limits available actions to the same actions allowed when updating project tasks and EAs individually. This option enables role-based control over task data while still allowing users to update task fields.

  • Subtask Extension: Controls access to a separate bulk subtask management menu. This menu appears only if the SP-50000 feature toggle is enabled in your environment.

The existing Project Task & EA data permission is relabeled to Project Task & EA data [Full permissions].

If you select both Project Task & EA data [Full permissions] and Project Task & EA data [Restricted permissions], users have full permissions.

  1. Go to Admin > Security > Roles.

  2. On the role, select menu > Set Global Permissions.

  3. Scroll to the Bulk Object Updater – BOU section and select the options you want.

  4. Select Save.

  5. Assign the role to a non-admin user.

Remove N/A from tasks and subtasks in Bulk Object Updater

SP-59203, SP-59244

Remove N/A from tasks and subtasks in Bulk Object Updater (BOU) the same way as removing N/A from tasks and subtasks individually. Control whether completion dates are also removed when you remove N/A from a task that already has completion dates such as External Date or Manual Date.

Use the new Remove Completion option to also clear the completion information when you remove N/A.

PNG image will display here

BOU remove completion option
  1. In BOU, if the NA Action column isn't displayed, select Select Task Data, and then NA Action.

  2. Select any other columns that you need to display.

  3. Select Edit.

  4. Double-click NA in the NA Action column header.

  5. Select Remove N/A.

  6. Set the Remove Completion option:

    • Select to remove completion information and N/A.

    • Clear to keep the completion information and remove N/A.

  7. Select Apply.

  8. Select Save.

When portfolio configuration PATCH_ACTUAL_DATES_REQUIRES_COMPLETION is turned on, you can only change actual dates if the task is moving to, or staying in, completed status. An error displays if you attempt to change actual dates when the task while the task is not moving to, or staying in, completed status.

When PATCH_ACTUAL_DATES_REQUIRES_COMPLETION is turned off, the system allows unrestricted changes to actual dates, including clearing them, regardless of task status.

When you complete a task using the API without providing actual dates, the system automatically sets actual dates based on the completion.
